Hey there, Gosslings.
Thanks for taking a look at our newest staff search. You may have noticed that one of our moderators, Protag, stepped down from her position to focus on being a member and roleplaying (we thank with all our hearts for the help she lent all these months). Other staff have, or will soon be about to, become occupied by work and other commitments. As a result, we are hiring for an ideal number of two new mods for our team.
This search is open to any currently accepted member of Gossamer who is interested in lending a hand to keep our site running actively and efficiently. If you are interested in applying, please read everything below CAREFULLY.
The main thing we need to emphasise is TIME; while you wouldn't be required nor expected to be on 24/7, nor to do all the work on your own, Gossamer is still very big and if one or more of lag or disappear all the time, that creates problems. If you'd wish to take care of your own roleplaying and site socialising in addition to staff duties (some of which are listed below), you MUST be confident and certain of your time management online, in combination with your real life responsibilities and anything else that may occupy you. Simply being present regularly in the Cbox and on the forum for an hour or so a day minimum is a default expectation, so if you're concerned that time is or will become an issue for you, keep that in mind.
The second important trait for an applicant is initiative, along with drive and enthusiasm to be around and help out. Very basic knowledge of HTML/CSS coding would also be nice, because filling out the claims and doing other little things like editing templates is also a part of the job.
General staff duties and requirements include reviewing applications, sorting characters and claims promptly, keeping the forums tidy and up to date, assisting with activity checks, contributing to staff discussions (we primarily use Skype and the forums), advertising, moderating member behaviour and any issues that may arise, and of course, keeping up with your own plots and RPs on the site.
All that said, if you think you fit the bill and could help us out, simply fill out the form below and personal message it to me (@DAE). GIVE US AS MUCH DETAIL AS YOU CAN. We want to learn as much about you as we can, including how you communicate, in order to make the best-informed decision. Best of luck!
This search will, for now, be left up indefinitely. We may close whenever we deem it necessary / have enough suitable candidates or hires.
What are your current characters, and which characters / how many do you plan on making in the future? (If any. A rough estimate is fine.) The number of characters you currently have or plan to have won't put you at an advantage or disadvantage compared to other applicants; we just want to be able to piece together the big picture of You.
How long in total have you been active on Goss? Note down any stints of inactivity or complete departure you went through, if any, and the reasons for them.
How much time do you think you could dedicate to Goss every day on average? Every week overall? Give us an estimate of the time you’re willing to spend on Goss. This may be more than how much you're currently on at the moment; just be realistic.
Past experience: If you have any, tell us about your past experience you have with staffing; if possible, provide us some some links, explain the size of the site you were working on, and elaborate on what kind of role did you have in the staff team. Also, if you have any other skills, you can tell us about those, and provide us with some of the examples!
Your strengths: Tell us about things you‘re good at and proud of about yourself! It can be anything you can think of that you think would help to contribute the site or your role as a potential staff member.
Your weaknesses: Tell us about the things about yourself you are not as proud of/you think you have to work to improve yourself on - don‘t worry, and be honest! A negative trait won‘t cut you out of the selection by default, we promise!
Is there anything in the future that could, in your opinion, drastically shake your activity and when: e.g. busy work/school/exams/graduation, unstable living situation, chronic illness, or any other things you could think of that could impact your activity.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of those who had the courage and enthusiasm to apply! I promise that we took every detail into account and are really grateful for your dedication to Gossamer. We will keep in mind your names and applications if we have need for more help in the future.
That said, you may all have noticed that we have taken on two new picks for staff: those being @AKEMI and @MANDEE. Go easy on them while they learn the ropes here!
Additionally, you may also noticed the recent retirement of Protag, who's assisted us for a few months; today we also say farewell to Neon, who is also gracefully retiring to focus on RP and RL. We love them and are thankful for all the time and attention they gave to this site as moderators! But we're glad they're still sticking around as members.
