With the dimensional displacements not yet showing signs of slowing, and research forever futile on how to leave (besides those who simply vanish, falling back through the invisible curtain), it's impossible to say who might arrive and how they might shape this fragile series of lands, eras and cultures. Good luck out there.

nakahara chuuya was pissed, in more ways than one. though by way of blanket statements, it was about as valuable as saying "chuuya was conscious" or "chuuya was alive", because when was he not some shade of annoyed or drunk (or both)? those states of being made it bearable to, well, continue to exist, and he was perfectly fine with slugging and sloshing his way to kingdom come. sex could play a part, too, though it never quite left the same aftertaste as with the one man he'd loved.
fine wining and dining were his preference, but without much money to do that yet, holing up in some middle-end bar was as good as he was going to get. on his fourth cocktail of the evening so far, he rebuffed the busy patrons who wanted to sit next to him or hit him up, even if they were pretty; none of them appealed to him in the slightest or even talked to him in the way he wanted. though that didn't stop him from yelling over his shoulder and contributing to their stupid conversations and arguments.
it was natural to underestimate the solitary redhead (probably only five foot high without his hat and a hundred pounds sopping wet without the rest of his attire on). but once he punched out the lights of one aggressor without even blinking, then kicked down his friend and held him down without breaking a sweat, the saloon-goers eyed him a little differently. the bartenders did give him warning looks - though violence was commonplace in a popular establishment such as this, they still didn't want someone so dangerous bullying their patrons.
snarling in his throat, chuuya picked up his cloak - which had fallen off his shoulders and onto the sticky floor in the attack - and shook it out before slinging it over his shoulder. he sat back down, bloody well planning on finishing his soixante quinze... or an approximation of it, as these drink mixers kinda sucked. he was fucking morose. see, he didn't really feel like joining one of the mafia groups around here; they simply wouldn't be the same as the one that was his family. he missed big sis kouyou, and mori-sama - who might not even make it - and all the guys who he could count as friends. hell, anyone from his world would be a pleasant sight now, even those on the enemy side.
he slowly drained his glass and set it down, his mind and body abuzz. with no proper outlet for all his strength and frustration, he wasn't sure what he was going to do tonight. maybe find some more alcohol somewhere and keep drinking until he was unconscious. as he got up, fixing the angle of his hat and stalking out of the clamour of the bar, he thought he heard someone new approaching him. damn, not again... and he was nearly out of here, too.

She'd been sitting in the corner of the bar watching him pour cocktails down his throat for an hour, his aura radiating anger and misery. Actually, she'd been watching him since he walked in the door. It wasn't many men that caught her eye like that, even if it was mostly because of the way his aura lit up compared to the rest of the people in the bar. Sure, most of them were angry or depressed or trying to drown some sort of feelings in booze, but their colors were dull compared to the redhead's. Fiery as his hair, as cliche a statement as that was.
Jeanette had been debating the entire time whether or not she actually wanted to approach the man. She could always use a bite, but she could grab any drunkard in this bar if that was all she was after. And he didn't look like he was after company. He turned away every single person that tried to slip into the seat next to him - and that was quite a lot of people, given that he had a pretty face and what looked like a nice enough body from the angle she was at.
All of those emotions wrapped up in such a small, tightly-wound package. It was intriguing, really - she wanted to know what had gotten him so wound up, even though she didn't know a single thing about him. With some drinks in him, he was more likely to spill the bills if she played her cards right. And maybe once she had satisfied that curiosity, she could learn more about the redhead.
She wasn't the type to deny her promiscuity. Therese had always looked down on her for being so willing to take a kine to bed, but Jeanette didn't see anything wrong with it. Perhaps they weren't as capable of bringing her pleasure as other Kindred were, but knowing how soft and vulnerable kine were in comparison made the act even more exciting for her. Some scoffed at the notion, but Jeanette had never been one to listen to the opinions of the vampire world at large.
The man got up to leave, and she got out of her seat, abandoning her untouched drink - it wouldn't have done her any good to drink it anyway, it was just for show - to follow him. He'd only made it a few steps out the door by the time she caught up to him and draped an arm around his shoulders, stepping right into his personal space. "What's got you so angry, sweetheart? Want to... talk about it?"

He was too drunk to react with his usual swiftness, and that could have been the death of him; for all he knew, the approaching person was one of the buddies of the guys he'd knocked out, ready to stab him in the back. The nature of the pursuant footfalls behind him, though, told his instincts that it was someone else, with something else in mind. They weren't sneaky and they weren't vicious, either. Just dogged enough to catch up with him. (It wasn't hard to do so. His strides had always been short, and he wasn't walking in as straight of a line as he thought.)
Half a snarl burst out of him anyway, his petite form shrinking down from the arm that wrapped over him. (Deep down, he didn't want to escape; he'd been waiting all night for the right person to embrace him.) He glanced at the woman who was disturbingly close to him, wondering if she'd been a bar-goer; he hadn't paid attention to any of the people in there, though he definitely didn't recognise her as someone who'd already approached him.
"Honey, talking ain't gonna do much," he said roughly. "Hands off if you don't want me to throw you so hard that you fly all the way into the building a block away an' that your skull smashes. If you were watching me in there..." his tone dropped, "you probably saw what I did to those guys when I got mad. That's only a fraction of my strength, you know. So get away."
He meant it as a warning, rambling as it was, as well as his usual boasting. Most of his regulation efforts at the moment went into minimising slurring and enunciating things properly. Anyway, the point was - he could easily have picked up any of the attractive people in that saloon, but in his current state, sleeping with them would probably kill them. And he didn't particularly like killing random people who had helped him to pleasure. He had nowhere to vent, nothing to do... maybe he'd end up heading over to the Edges, where he could break apart a few abandoned buildings and no-one would get hurt or care.

Jeanette didn’t even blink at the man’s little snarl, utterly unimpressed. Though he tried to shrink away, the Kindred had his shoulder in an iron grip. Though she didn’t exactly have supernatural strength – that was the forte of the Brujah, after all – the Kindred was still quite a bit stronger than the average human and definitely willing to prove it to him.
She gave a snort at his words. “Oh, starting with the pillow talk already? Awfully forward for someone who doesn’t want me around~.” If talking wouldn’t do much, well, she expected he was looking for something a little more… physical. Whether that be an actual fight or something a little more up her alley, well, his further reactions would determine that. “I’d love to see you try. More than one person’s tried to smash my skull in the past and I’m still here, so…~”
For a Kindred, she was actually relatively squishy, not in possession of any of the disciplines that improved on physical traits, such as Fortitude or Celerity. She’d never seen the need for them. Any fight that she couldn’t avoid through words, she could use Dementation to put an end to. That was all she really needed. And with her particular set of social skills, she was generally able to put an end to conflicts without any physical violence occurring. Well – that wasn’t exactly true. Some people were a little violent in the bedroom too, which hadn’t ever really bothered her, given… past experiences.
With all that pent-up anger inside of him, that building sense of frustration that seemed to be reaching a peak… He definitely needed some sort of relief. His aura burnt with an angry red that even she hadn’t seen too often, a red that hurt her eyes if she looked at it for too long. Redder even than his hair. “What if I don’t want to get away, hmm?” she asked in a teasing tone, curious what he’d say to her. Whether he’d continue to rebuff her, or whether she’d piqued his interest.

Chuuya definitely was not bluffing about his full strength - though coming from a short youth like him, it'd be easy to think so. None of his gravitation was in effect at the moment, otherwise he would have been able to oppose her strong hold on him with equal or greater force. He was just tired and lonely and despised the world and everything in it with red-black misery. What an odd woman this one was so far; keen, even past his blunt and aggressive nature, to stick to him. He hadn't been offensive, really, but that was in part thanks to Kouyou's teaching. (Respect women in particular, for physical force is useless against what they can see and do in your mind and soul.)
The first tease, though? That one hooked and reeled him in, making him flare up like fuel spattered on a flame. Typical Chuuya, falling for provocation so easily -- of any sort. Whether sensual stimulation or bitter vexation, or a mixture, or no distinction at all, he instinctively responded with a snap. "Pillow talk-!? You're the awfully impatient one here. Jumping to conclusions and all." (But he didn't deny this time that he might be interested in such a thing.)
Was she bluffing too, perhaps? It would be highly stupid of someone to say their skull had never been successfully caved in, only for him to attempt it. Though from what his senses were sending to his fuzzy brain, he slowly suspected she had some supernatural element to her nature, as he did. He knew enough of gifts and abilities and - since learning in the multiverse, non-human species - that basically anything was possible. She could be reading his mind or something right now and he may have no clue.
"... Guess you really wanna test me out, don't ya." Relenting against her charisma, the redhead sighed and rubbed the gloved knuckles of his right hand. Not that he didn't have his own compelling will, ego and confidence and zesty charm, but much of that was currently sodden by the shitty cocktails he'd ingested. Could he be reawakened? "I do need a vent tonight. Whether that's a romp in the sheets or somethi' else, I'm only up for it if you can take it. So listen, I'mma test you. Face my fist - block it or just take it, but don't dodge - and if you really are... durable as you say, then..." You've scored yourself some quality time with me.
Without warning except for pupils contorting - his speed was frightening for a human - his fist twisted in towards her chest, driven like a cannonball by the sheer potency coursing from his core and throughout his arm, enhanced by Tainted Sorrow. It wouldn't be enough to kill her if she was just an ungifted human, but it would certainly be like being plowed into by a car doing a steady 40.

Jeanette was, above all, looking for a way to entertain herself that didn't involve going back to the brothel, grabbing one of her own whores, and filling the nighttime with unspeakable sorts of things. Even if this encounter ended in much the same way, at least he was an unfamiliar face and offered the possibility of exploration, of discovering new things. It had been quite a while since she'd taken a man to bed, actually, come to think of it. Most of the ones she'd taken a liking to in LA had been scared off by Therese's machinations after a while.
She almost burst into outright laughter at his response to her teasing. Honestly, it was refreshing to have someone react like this. She managed, however, to restrain her reaction to a light chuckle and an equally teasing response. "Mm, I might be the impatient one, but you didn't tell me no." She could detect the slightest shift in his aura, an indication that perhaps he was a little more into the idea than he let on. She could work with that. Jeanette was well-versed in turning a twinge of interest into full-blown obsession, though the intention here was more a nighttime of pleasure than the desire to have this attractive man pleading for her attention constantly. That was a little more attachment than she cared to bother with right now.
"Maybe I do. You'll never know if you don't try." So he was intent on testing her, was he? Well, regardless of what he put in front of her - given their shared interests and goals for the night, she was pretty certain that she could handle it with ease. Now, she wasn't a Brujah or a Ventrue - she didn't possess the Fortitude discipline, which would allow her to soak a punch regardless of the strength without batting an eye. It wasn't something she'd ever sought out the opportunity to learn, either. Jeanette was of the opinion that a little pain made everything more fun. Still, she wasn't a mortal creature, and as such possessed fortitude beyond that of your average human. Indeed, he could punch straight through her stomach and have his fist come out the other side and all she'd need to fix it was an expenditure of the blood she'd consumed. Well, it might be a little more difficult than that, but not by much.
She didn't have much of an opportunity to brace herself - supernatural speed, again, was not one of the traits she possessed; her talents in that regard were centered more on the mind than the body - but still, the punch plowed into her chest and while she staggered backwards a step or so, she remained largely unhurt. A punch didn't have much of an effect on an undead body. "What do you think?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Am I good enough for you, sweetheart?"
